This 1968 Dodge Super Bee is powered by a period-correct 426ci HEMI V8 engine topped with two Carter four-barrel carburetors and backed by a matching-numbers TorqueFlite A727 HP 3-speed automatic transmission with Chrysler's 8.75-inch axle and 3.23:1 Sure-Grip differential. The Super Bee is one of only 93 HEMI automatics produced and was ordered new from Palmer Dodge in Indianapolis, IN. The car was used in period as a drag racer at local tracks in the Indianapolis area. The original HEMI engine was sent to a shop for repairs in the 1970s. While at the shop, the HEMI engine went missing, only to be rediscovered in the early 1990s within a 5-mile radius of where it was originally lost. During the interim, the Super Bee was powered by a 383ci V8. The car sports a matching-numbers body and has undergone a no-expense-spared professional concours-level rotisserie restoration. The original owner repainted the car white with blue stripes; during the restoration it was returned to its original finish of JJ1 Medium Gold Metallic over a black vinyl interior that is completely original except for the carpet and headliner. The Super Bee is equipped with power steering, bumper guards as well as AM radio and 8-track tape player. This Super Bee comes complete with a Dave Wise Validation Report and is in the MMC Detroit Global Vehicle Registry. It also features the original dealer Window Sticker, factory OEM production Broadcast Sheet, owner's manual, build receipts and restoration photos.
