This 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby KR or "King of the Road" version of the GT500 is a limited-edition model, CSM #740. Only 1,011 were produced worldwide for 2008 in celebration of the Shelby's 40th anniversary. It is powered by the Ford SVT-engineered 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine that was enhanced with a Ford Racing Power Upgrade Pack to boost horsepower to 540hp and 510 ft/lbs of torque. The added power comes via a revised ignition and air/fuel calibration, a Ford Racing-inspired dual exhaust and a cold-air intake system that was specially designed to mate against the KR's unique carbon fiber hood. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and a 3.73:1 ratio rear axle with 850 miles. It is equipped with unique performance suspension tuning, including springs, dampers and stabilizer bars, and rides on Shelby-designed GT500KR 18-inch wheels. Options include Ford Racing short-throw shifter and front strut tower brace, unique carbon-composite hood featuring classic Shelby KR design, front brake cooling ducts, Shelby lettering across the front edge of the hood and rear decklid, 40th Anniversary badges on the front quarter panels, Carroll Shelby signature embroidered headrests and floor mats, and an official Shelby CSM 40th Anniversary GT500KR dash plate.
