This 1980 Pontiac Trans Am is an Indianapolis 500 Pace Car edition and is one of 5,700 examples produced in 1980 to commemorate the first Trans AM to pace the Indianapolis 500. This official pace car retains its original drivetrain including the matching-numbers turbocharged 4.9-liter V8 engine and 3-speed automatic transmission. All pace cars were identically equipped with Cameo White exteriors, gray graphics, and Hobnail Cloth/Doeskin vinyl interiors. Options included the WS6 Special Performance Handling package with 4-wheel disc brakes, 3.08:1 Safe-T-Track rear axle, turbo alloy wheels painted in white with 225/70R15 raised white letter radial tires.
