DESCRIPTION HAS BEEN UPDATED
This 1968 Shelby GT350-H was ordered by Hertz to their specifications but never picked up, then sold to the public. The car was listed in the recent Colin Comer Shelby book and was previously owned by him. This Shelby #1219 has had only four documented owners since 1968. It was found by the current consigner parked in the original owner's garage from 1984 until the time of discovery in 2019. The car was bought new at Schmidt Ford, Inc., in Baltimore, MD, on July 19, 1968. It retains its factory-original Candy Apple Red paint with original decals and its original red oxide primer with factory overspray. Drip marks, paint daubs and chalk marks are present on the whole undercarriage and suspension. It has the original driveshaft with still-visible paint ID stripes and original leaf springs with paint ID stripes, and the original DSO markings are still visible on the rear-end housing. The original 302ci V8 engine block shows the Ford VIN stamp. The original carburetor, water pump, fuel pump, intake, air-conditioning system, pulleys, heads, valve covers and air cleaner are original. The original fuel pump, carburetor, water pump, radiator and master cylinder were taken off and internally rebuilt and reinstalled in 2019 by the current consigner. It has the original transmission and rear end, with the original axle tag still in place. The current consigner also replaced all five tires with new concours-correct Goodyear Speedway 350 tires and a new concours-correct Autolite battery. The interior is original and features seat belts with factory tags, a headliner, a dash, upholstery, carpet gauges and a working AM radio. All original stickers - including the tie-down plate instruction sticker - remain glued on the tail panel. It has the original jack, lug nut wrench, trunk mat and spare wheel with a functional trunk light. Ownership history is listed in the SAAC Registry. Original documents include the Marti Report, original owner's manuals, original Maryland plates and registrations from 1972-84. 23,108 miles.
