This matching-numbers 1970 Buick GSX Stage 1 is No. 344 of 668 built for the model year and one of 187 built in Apollo White. The GSX model was introduced to the GS lineup in mid-1970s and ran for only 2.5 months, incorporating the 455ci V8 engine, posi-traction axle, F41 Ride Control Package, G60-15 RWL wide oval tires, a front spoiler, rear wing, full-length side stripes, hood tachometer, dual air intakes, hood stripes, dual racing mirrors and headlight bezels color keyed to body, as well as a special thick-trimmed sport steering wheel. This Stage 1 option incorporated a more aggressive camshaft and higher compression resulting in 360hp and 510 ft/lbs of torque, the highest torque of any production car for 1970. This highly optioned car is equipped with a Turbo-Hydramatic 400 transmission, a full console, power steering, Sonomatic radio, rear speaker, air conditioning, soft-ray tinted glass, power windows and Convenience Group with Lighting Package. This example has been shown at just three events and has been awarded 2021 Buick GS Nationals Concours Gold with a score of 398 of a possible 400 points, First in Class at the 2024 Grand National Roadster Show and 2024 Benedict Castle Concours Judge's Choice.
